British LED lighting manufacturer Rotolight has just announced the revolutionary new LED light called the Anova PRO. The feature set on this light is pretty breathtaking, and should save filmmakers, videographers, photographers, and cinematographers time and money.
At its core, these are the five patented breakthrough features:
CineSFX
Lighting tends to be used primarily to, well, light a scene without drawing attention to itself but sometimes the light source plays an important part of the story. CineSFX can simulate different lighting effects that are pretty common such as fire, lightning, TV, film, neon and spark simulation, or less common effects, such as police lights, paparazzi flash, and gunshot visual effects. Each one of these effects are completely customizable and enables an exact reproduction of complex lighting. The effects can also be triggered wirelessly.
Visual effects artist, Stefan Lange, who has worked on Skyfall, Batman, and Tomb Raider said this of CineSFX in a statement:
“The CineSFX mode that’s built into the Rotolight Anova PRO is an advantage to any production. It’s fast - it doesn’t matter if it’s a feature, a drama or a documentary, there isn’t a job I wouldn’t take it on.”
FX Slave
The FX Slave feature allows you to slave up to 512 third party light sources via DMX. This allows you to control multiple lights with a single Anova PRO and trigger the specified CineSFX mode with zero latency.
True Aperture Dimming
This can be used to calculate and display the F-stop for a subject at a given distance. This allows you to speed up your workflow by eliminating the need for metering entirely.
Designer Fade
This mode provides videographers and creative cinematographers with custom fade up / fade down effects for production.
High Speed Sync Flash (HSS)
For the photographer, the Anova PRO is the first continuous bi-colour LED light to provide a powerful HSS flash with zero recycle time. It will give you 150% of the maximum continuous light output for traditional photographic needs.
The Anova PRO is the next generation of Rotolight’s Anova line of bi-color LED lights and is 43% brighter than its predecessors. Other upgrades over the previous versions are a revised yoke design along with a new flash sync trigger input for camera shutter release synchronization.
The light delivers excellent functionality via unique features and superior colour rendering with Rotolight’s AccuColour™ LED phosphor technology with a color rendering index of CRI:96+ and also scores in the highest category on the independently-tested Television Lighting Consistency Index (TLCI).
Rotolight’s Anova PRO is shipping now and will retail for approximately $1,325 USD to $3,278 USD. Click here to purchase the light directly from the manufacturer.
