Situated within Dartmoor National Park, this historical old school offers relaxing surroundings with many of the services of a large hotel. Originally built in 1875 and converted in the years after 1992, the old school now provides exceptional levels of comfort and quality accommodation, at the same time retaining many of the buildings historic features (130 year old exposed beams, heavy school doors and the original bell tower).It is run and managed by us, Maxine and Chris, and our aim is to ... On arrival, you will be offered complementary tea or coffee with cake or biscuits, served in our guest lounge, or on the terrace. Our rooms are large and benefit from central heating, king size beds and Designer Egyptian cotton bed linen, fridge and Sony LCD TV. The walls are decorated with original art work and fine prints. Services such as Internet access and parking are provided FREE of charge.We offer the traditional English breakfast, or a choice of hot' options. Award winning butchers Howells' of Tavistock Pannier Market provide our dry cured bacon and handmade sausages. Eggs are free-range and come from local farms.Evening meals are offered in our licensed restaurant. Advanced booking is required. We will discuss the 3 course menu with you and adjust it to suit your requirements, where possible. Lighter meals are provided in the loungebar. For special occasions we can arrange flowers, champagne, theatre, restaurant and taxi bookings just let us know.With plenty of activities available we can arrange bookings for sporting and musical events, golf, fishing and much more.Horrabridge has 2 pubs, grocery store, post office, bakery and an award winning fish and chip shop. Places to visit are numerous and include Buckland Abbey, the Eden Project and the Garden House. The ancient Stannery town of Tavistock (Market Town of the Year) with its Pannier Market, coffee shops and artisan shopping is a 5 minute drive.The village of Yelverton is nearby with shops, petrol station and pubs. Our favourite Chinese restaurant is here, Jasmine's, so if you eat here tell them we sent you and Yvonne and Cindy will look after you! Walkhampton village is a short drive, or walk on a nice day, with its 17th Century pub and courtyard garden.Our Maritime City of Plymouth is only 15 minutes drive with its shopping malls, the Barbican, Plymouth Hoy and much more. Activities in the area include golf, fishing, cycling (route 27 is nearby) or just hike out onto the moors. We have a wealth of information on display or you are welcome to ask us.Members of the National Trust are spoilt for choice with numerous properties and gardens to visit. Less
