The Brewers' Company is one of the oldest Livery Companies in the City of London and ranks fourteenth in order of precedence established by Act of the Court of Alderman in 1515.
The Company received its first charter from Henry VI in 1438 when the brewers were incorporated as "The Wardens and Commonalty of the Mystery of Brewers of the City of London." The Company today is governed by the Charter granted by Charles I on 6 April 1639.
